Fit Friday

Friday, December 21, 2012

I wanted to post my top five fat blasting moves for Fit Friday. These are real butt-kickers, but yield big time overall toning results, and their dynamic nature means that not only are you hitting most of your major muscle groups, you're torching calories! To put these into a workout, you could do Tabata style (20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest) and repeat three times. Another option is dooig a countdown; start with 10 of each the first circuit, then 9 of each, then 8 and so on. So, here's my Top Five Fat Blasting Moves:

1. Burpees

2. Candlesticks
3. Jump Lunges

4. Inch Worms

5. Clean and Press

Caroline's First Christmas List

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

I've been a post slacker for the last week! Much like everyone else I'm sure, we were crazy busy last week and this one won't be much different. Between Juston's birthday and my cheerleading teams first competition of the season,  last week went by in a flash and this week is on track to do the same! But I wanted to share Caroline's Christmas list for Santa and get any suggestions for almost five month old babies' toys or gadgets y'all might have.
Juston and I decided before Caroline was even born that we wanted to try and keep the focus of Christmas on Christ more than the presents under the tree. A friend of ours told us awhile back about their three gift rule for Christmas; one to represent each of the gifts the Wisemen brought to the baby Jesus all those years ago.  So we decided that between the two of us, Caroline would get three gifts under the tree and three in her stocking. Caroline's wish list looks a little something like this.

 Under the tree:

Evenflo Exersaucer                               American Girl Doll, Caroline Abbott

And for her stocking:

Hopefully, Caroline's been a good enough girl for Santa to bring her a few things on her list. I will be doing my last Wednesday giveaway tomorrow so be sure to check back on how to enter! Hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas season as much as we are. It really is the little things that leave the most lasting impression on your heart, so I'm worrying less about making sure all my decorations and wrapping jobs look perfect and more on enjoying time baking cookies toting my sous chef around or curled up on the couch watching The Grinch with my family. I can't believe it'll be here in less than a week!
Oh and for all you procrastinators like me out there, we got 30% off our Christmas cards on Shutterfly by waiting so late and I got 35% off plus free shipping on Juston's gifts that I just ordered today from Dick's and American Eagle.I think I'll just save all my Christmas shopping for the week before next year!

Caroline~ 4 Months

Sunday, December 9, 2012

Age: 4 months on Decemberr 7

Weight: 14 pounds 14 ounces
Length: 24 inches
Sleep: We have officially hit the 4 month  sleep regression stage! For about the last two weeks, Miss Caroline has been getting up at least once a night. I'm still usually getting about five hours of sleep most of the time, but there were a few nights right in a row where I was barely getting three hours and I'm not a napper so I was staying pretty worn out. I'm hoping she'll get back to her old sleep schedule sooner rather than later.
My Bedtime: 8 pm-9 pm depending on when I get home from work.
Favorite Toy: Her mud pie Lambie and Sophie the giraffe
Clothes Size: 3 months or 3-6 months in most everything.
Diaper Size: Size 2 in Pampers
Milestones Reached: Laughing!!!
Firsts: She has found her feet :)
Best Mood: Definitely mornings! She does not get this from me!

And this week's giveaway winner...Kaella. Send me your mailing address and I'll get it sent your way!

Decking the Halls

Friday, December 7, 2012

I love, love, LOVE reading to my baby and I especially love reading her some of my favorite Christmas stories! I've done it since she was born but she's just now starting to really pay attention to the pictures. I read her the Grinch and she seemed pretty mesmerized. My parents brought her these books back from the last trip they took and how cute are her little Santa rattle slippers!

Our stockings hung from the armoir with care. I just love her little stocking! It's so cute hanging in between ours! I wish you could see the monogram on mine and Juston's, but somehow when I was ordering them, I must have selected cream thread for monogramming....why is that even an option?  Oh well, they're still cute and hopefully, one day we can hang them from a mantle.

Our family Christmas tree is my favorite! We have what we call our Charlie Brown tree in our bedroom, (it doesn't even get ornaments on it), and for the first time ever, Juston put up his very own tree in the basement that was just completed a few weeks ago, but I'll get to his masterpiece in just a bit...
My parents have given my sister and I keepsake ornaments every single Christmas since we were born and when we each got married we took them for our own trees (something I protested since I wanted them to stay where they belonged on Mom and Dad's tree, but Miss Sue insisted they go). My ribbon needs some re-working, but decorating one handed while holding a grabby baby isn't the simplest thing to do.
And finally, I give you our redneck Christmas tree, a surprise from the hubs...

Why yes, those are antlers on top. And your eyes do not deceive you...those are turkey feet and deer tail ornaments, Everything, and I do mean everything on this tree, Juston shot while hunting, or drank. It disgusts me, but at least he's getting in the holiday spirit. If you look closely, you'll notice the deer hooves serving as a tree stand.

Rabbit feet, turkey feathers, shotgun shells, shot glasses, beer cans, squirrel and deer tails...there's just so much to behold on this tree. I try not to look too hard for fear of what I might find. Yep, ladies, this is what happens to your Christmas tree when you marry a man from Harlan.
Be sure to check in tomorrow for the giveaway winner!

A Very Caroline Christmas

Saturday, December 1, 2012

We have been in full on Christmas mode around here since the day after Thanksgiving and I couldn't be more excited! I wasted no time getting our Christmas trees put up and our decorations out (pictures to come soon!), none of which have been of any interest to Miss Caroline. I really thought she'd love the lights on the tree but alas, she's not even given them a second look. Oh well, I still love them. There are a few essentials that I had to be sure Caroline wasn't missing for her first Christmas and the first was her little visitor from the North Pole, an elf named Atticus. He's not started stirring up trouble around our house yet, he's just arrived :)

Next was her stocking. Eleven months out  of the year, I could care less that we don't have a fireplace with a big mantle, but when it comes time to hang the stockings by the chimney with care, I get a little bummed that we have to hang ours over the armoir with care instead, but we make due. Juston and I have the classic velvet red and cream stockings from Pottery Barn so we got a complimentary one for Caroline, and yes they're all monogrammed :) Once I get her stocking holder in the mail, I'll post a pic of the three of them hung up together.

And last on the essential list is her Christmas Eve pj's. very year since I can remember, my sister and I were allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve and it was always matching Christmas pajamas so we're carrying on the tradition. I just love these little reindeer jammies from PB Kids, and yes, I ordered them with a monogram, too. They even have a tush flap on the back Treasure Troll style!

Lastly, another giveaway winner to announce, randomly chosen from my blog followers...congrats to Ms. Mess on winning the Mud Pie lamb woobie! E-mail me your info and I'll mail it to you this week!

Wednesday Giveaway

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Time for a weekly giveaway! Caroline honestly hasn't shown much of an affinity, or really any interest period in any toys...up until now, that is!
She just loves cuddling with this little Mud Pie lamb that we've (I've) named Lambie since she loves watching her some Doc McStuffins. It's a combination teether, rattle and soft mini blanket I guess you'd call it. Anyway, she will actually hold it and it's just the cutest thing!

She snuggled herself to sleep while we were in Kroger yesterday! So I'm going to randomly choose a blog follower on Friday afternoon to receive this adorable little toy. I'll post the winner by Saturday afternoon and you can e-mail me your mailing info to get you very own little Lambie. So if you want a chance at this giveaway, just click the follow button and you'll be entered :)

PS Does anyone else's baby have an absolute shit fit any time you put them in their car seat? Caroline just can't stand hers and I feel awful putting her in it. It fits properly so I can't figure out her issue with it. I'm thinking maybe because she falls asleep in it?? Since she turns into an angry little gator-rolling, screaming maniac whenever it's her nap time. I'm so looking forward to her naps in the toddler years...Any tips are welcome.

Sunday Finest~ Christmas Season Edition

Sunday, November 25, 2012

i.love.leopard/print. I loved it before it was "back" and I will love it when it's not "in" anymore (though I don't think that day will come) and now I love it on baby Caroline. There's a very thin line between adorable and gawdy when it comes to babies and animal print, but this fress was perfect. I'm not one to do the baby and mama matchy-matchy on a daily basis, but for church and special occasions, like the upcoming holiday party season, I can get on board and at least coordinate!

Blue is an often overlooked holiday color in lieu of the more traditional reds and greens, but in the great state of Kentucky, there is never a shortage of blue, and I love the beaded embellishment on the royal sweater and Caroline's closet will never have enough smocked items.

Caroline  looked soooo sweet in her polka dot sweater dress at church this morning!!! The pictured sweater from J Crew is one that I've been lusting after, but who the heck drops $200 + on a sweater (not that I'm above such shenanigans when it comes to a purse), but if this one ever goes on sale, I'm all over it!

Happy Holiday shopping!
