Fall Wish List

Saturday, August 24, 2013

Even though we're coming up on a heat wave here, which by the way, I LOVE since it means more pool and boat days to come, I've just started brainstorming a few things I have on my wish list for this late summer and early fall. Seasonal transitional pieces I suppose.
I'm just itching to get Caroline and I a pair of Hunter boots for the fall and winter months that lie ahead, but I just haven't made the plunge yet. I'm definitely going to, but I can't decide between matte and glossy finish, or just what colors to get, but I'm leaning towards the Tiffany blue for me (even though black would be most practical)...

and these sweet little pink ones for Caroline.

Next up is church-wear. I'm in love with the Hayden shift dress by Laroque! I have the Caroline bow dress in yellow and the top in mint and love them both and I also have the Riley top and a couple of the Ellis dresses and monogram sashes, all of which fit perfectly and are so well-made. I love me a good shift dress and this one is simply gorgeous! And such a versatile piece. If you are a Southern Living subscriber, you may have seen this dress in red in the most recent issue.

And for Caroline, I'm loving this swing coat from Etsy.
Well, it's actually a pattern for a swing coat and let's be honest...if I made one it would likely look NOTHING like the perfect, pretty one in the listing haha. But it may be fun to give it a whirl. I'm usually up for a good challenge.

For weekend lounging, I found this long sleeve tee on Pinterest, but can't find the original item for the life of me. I will most likely end up getting a Southern Shirt Company jersey pullover since their shirts are the most comfortable I've ever had.

And I've just added these Halloween onesies to my Etsy shop for pre-order, so Caroline will obviously be getting one.

And finally, how cute are these monogrammed weekender bags

We've got trips this fall planned for North Carolina, South Carolina and Savannah so one of these bags is perfect to throw Caroline's stuff into. I like keeping her things separate from ours when we travel whether it's her clothes, food, toys or whatever, it just makes it all simpler to find in a hurry.

One more thing...I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to my Daddy, Handsome Leonard, whom Caroline was named after and bears a striking resemblance to!

It's also my Aunt Judy's birthday and a Happy 50th wedding anniversary to she and my Uncle Ronnie! August has treated our family very well over the years!

What's Cookin'~ Corn Chowder

Thursday, August 22, 2013

Who doesn't love a simple, delicious crockpot dinner? You toss it all in in the morning, and forget about it until you realize you don't have to put anything together at dinnertime besides a bowl and spoon! I love my crockpot and this is probably my favorite thing that I make in it! Y'all HAVE to try it
What you need:
1 can corn
1 can cream style corn
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 stick butter
4 LARGE potatoes peeled and diced
1 large shallot or onion
2 8 oz packages of ham
1 cup half and half (this goes in at the end)

Put everything in except the half and half. Cook on low 7-8 hours. Turn to high and add half and half, cook for 30 minutes and serve. I top with cheddar cheese and sour cream. It's ahhhhmazing! I altered this from a recipe I found on Pinterest by adding more ham per the hubby's request and he was so right, it made it even better!

Oh Shift~ Our Lilly Haul

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

How tired were y'all of this screen after yesterday? Like the rest of civilization apparently,  I logged onto Lilly Pulitzer's site yesterday morning at 7:58 am ready to score some deals, and was promptly given the 'Oh Shift' screen for approximately three hours every time I tried to add anything to my tote. Ugh. same story, different year, but I digress. I did eventually score some great things at some pretty awesome prices.

I managed to snag the Delia dress in Let's Cha Cha. I got this pattern for Caroline for next summer from Zappos a few weeks ago and y'all know I'm a sucker for the matchy matchy :) I also got the Callahan shorts. They fit perfectly and I love the pattern.

I did miss out on two of the things I wanted most of all and that would be the Callahans and Murfee scarf, both in You Gotta Regatta. It's one of my favorite Lilly Patterns.

And I made the rookie mistake of not checking out immediately after putting the First Impression scarf and Kelsey wedges in my cart so they sold out before I could complete checkout. Boo. Oh well, guess it's back to trolling Ebay for them.

Caroline made out like a bandit for next year!

Ruffled Pullover

Multi Chin Chin swim suit

Britta Baby Dress in white lace

I would link to the items, but everyplace I checked is sold out. I did manage to get her the mini Callahans in You Gotta Regatta so obviously I have to find them in my size. And finally, for a matchy matchy fall finish, I'll be ordering us these dresses for next fall when Caroline can fit into the XS sizes in Little Lilly.

Twelve Months

Thursday, August 8, 2013

Age: 12 months (I refuse to write one year)
Birthday: August 7, 2012
Weight: 18.25 pounds, I don't really think her weight has changed since around 9 months when she started crawling
Length: 27  inches
Sleep: Bedtime is 8:30-10. If she only has one nap during the day, she'll go out early, but if she takes two naps, it's usually a later bedtime. We just play it by ear according to her mood.
My Bedtime Routine: She outright refuses her bedtime oatmeal these days, has been for about a month. She now just helps me water our plants, get a clean diaper and pjs on, turn on her fan for white noise and nurse until she's out. I lay her down after she's been out around 30 minutes.
Favorite Toy: She got some good ones for her birthday that she adores! The Zany Zoo, her PB rocking horse, any books that make noise and just random objects she finds around the house like wrapping paper rolls.
Clothes Size:  9 month and 6-12 month.
Diaper Size: Size 3
Milestones Reached:  Running everywhere! Since she got the whole walking thing down, she literally runs everyplace now. It's like she walked for the first time, and decided crawling was for the birds. She takes quite a few tumbles through the course of the day, but overall does really well. She's even starting to master changing directions and the controlled fall. It's so adorable to watch.
Favorite Foods: Spaghetti, Green Beans, ice cream, Teddy Grahams, vanilla wafers, whole grain Eggos, and sweet potato fries. Most everything else, she could take or leave. After loving them for so long, she won't touch bananas and avocados anymore.

Best Mood: I never thought I would see the day that I could honestly claim Caroline to be a "happy child" but praise the Lord she has actually come around. She is just a happy little chick 95% of the time now and that makes for a 100% happy mama.
Teeth: two bottom teeth and two top teeth all through and she has four more all visible through her gums but not quite ready to pop through just yet.
Words: Mama, Dada, Mamaw, Papa, Bye, Hi, Arf, No no.  Waving, panting like a dog, growling and mimicking sounds like clicking your tongue and animal noises are her strong points too. And we've added Amen, Bible, Minnie (mimmy), and bellybutton (bubuh as she pokes my bellybutton) and Bubby, my nephew. she does really well with B and M words. She's got a mean chicken and horse impression, too. Oh, and she moos when she sees cows.
Crawling: Walking/Running: Walking all over the place, standing from a below-parallel squat and sprints to faceplant are all strong points of hers.

I'll get a birthday (actual and party) recap post up sometime this weekend and I hope to start posting more regularly here soon. Been a busy, fun summer with lots of family time so posting has taken a backseat for awhile.
