Snow Daze and Oscar Favorites

Monday, February 23, 2015

Last week was a doozy as far as weather is concerned. This February, to spite being the shortest month, has felt so long with all this crazy weather we've been having. We have set all time record lows, -15 degrees, no thank you, and had some wild snow and ice events over the last week. The county school have been out over a week straight now. Well, last Sunday and Monday, we got about eight inches of snow dumped on us, but we had planned a Fat Tuesday dinner for friends and family. The roads were decent enough that most everyone was able to make it out. I made some of my favorite goodies, and some more Mardi Gras appropriate foods.
Pictured below is Bread Dip, Banana Pudding, King Cake (that I bought from Kroger) and Gumbo.

And I sure had Lucy's undivided attention then entire time I was working in the kitchen, as usual.
We got more snow on Wednesday, like another three inches, then had another ice/snow storm blow through Friday evening into Saturday morning. Go away winter!

I never really committed to anything to give up for Lent this year, but I have taken up doing daily devotionals from a book I've had for awhile now. It's a good way to start the day.

We managed to get out of the house for a bit on Friday to have a family date night to a local place called Pasquale's. It's my favorite place to eat in town. Super cheap and everything is so good!  Hope everyone is staying warm. They are calling for some more cold weather this week, but hopefully, we're nearing the end of this winter road since March is right around the corner!

And finally, I didn't actually watch most of the Oscars last night, but I was keeping up with all the pretty dresses on the red carpet. That's usually the only thing I care much about when it comes to award shows anyway. But these were my favorite picks from last night.

Emma Stone I just adore! And does Jennifer Aniston ever age? I need some Aveeno stat!

Reese Witherspoon always kills it. It's those Southern Roots, she always looks so classic. Gwyneth Paltrow's dress may have been my favorite of the night. Love the color and sleeve detail.

Jennifer Lopez is another one that doesn't ever seem to age. Maybe it's the name Jennifer or something, but she looked so beautiful! And I really loved Julianne Moore's dress as well. I really need to read the Still Alice book before seeing that movie, but I have heard great things about both!

I had to add two more....Jenna Dewan Tatum and Anna Kendrick both looked flawless. I just love the color of Anna's dress!

Did I miss anyone?
